Hamels, Phils encouraged by effort in win

Cole Hamels knows better than anybody how much of a struggle 2009 has been at times. Of course, those struggles are relative. Hamels is 6-5 with a 4.66 ERA after allowing three runs in seven innings Thursday in a 9-4 victory over the Padres at Citizens Bank Park.
