Maybe I should go back to lo-def.

Well, shooting my home movies on the Kobian 720p HD Digital Camcorder has turned out to be a total disaster. I mean, don’t get me wrong. The picture looks great. The HD is gorgeous. And that’s the problem.

See, my kid brother is a huge clutz. His total lack of coordination has given me dozens of opportunities to capture hilarious home video. Maybe you’ve seen some of them, they’re pretty popular online. “Clumsy Andy Carries Breakfast Downstairs?” “Clumsy Andy Falls In The Pool?” The even more amazing “Clumsy Andy Falls Out Of The Pool?” No? Well, it’s a niche genre.

But ever since I’ve been shooting him in 720p high definition, I’ve been getting all these YouTube commenters saying my videos are staged. People just can’t believe footage that looks so great could possibly come from one kid taping another. This is pro stuff, they say. There has to be a production crew. The videos must be viral marketing for… I don’t know, health insurance, maybe.

Now, accusations of fakery are the kiss of death for accident comedy. I get in there and comment too, trying to reassure people my videos are real, that Andy’s actually my brother, and that he truly is clumsy enough to get his foot stuck in the hole at a putt-putt course. But they just think I’m some ad agency’s sock puppet.

The way I see it, I’ve got no choice, really. I have to go back to my old camera.

And soon, because Andy recently expressed interest in dirt-bike racing, which I predict will be extremely fruitful for my YouTube channel.
